A showy cultivar, which early in the season, produces an abundance of many-petalled violet-purple flowers. Then, as the season progresses and the second flush starts to appear, the flowers are the same gorgeous colour, but they often only have a single row of petals. This large-flowered clematis is perfect for growing through a strong shrub, small tree or climbing rose in full sun or partial shade.
- Garden care: Remove dead and damaged stems before growth begins in early spring, cutting all remaining stems back to where strong buds are visible. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring.
