It will be easy to create your own hedgerow with this wonderful collection of native plants. We have chosen them all, not only because they display unique and distinctly beautiful characteristics, but because when planted together they will form a diverse and attractive screen that will provide a haven for wildlife. This is a robust mix of plants, which can cope in most positions including coastal or exposed sites. Traditionally used in rural settings for centuries, this hedge will also work well in urban areas.

Our bare root hedging range is a very low cost way of planting a hedge - and these plants are only available to buy and plant when dormant (typically from November to early April). These plants have a known seed provenance and are grown in rich Herefordshire soil, which has given them the best possible start in life. Typically measuring approximately 60-80cm in height, they'll settle in quickly and will be raring to go in spring.

Our native species rich, flowering hedging pack contains 150 plants and will include:

50 × hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna): Fragrant, insect-friendly white flowers in May, followed by spherical, glossy, dark red fruit, and deeply lobed, glossy, dark green leaves. Grows to 10m (unclipped).

25 × blackthorn (Prunus spinosa): Beautiful cloudy plumes of snow-white flowers in early spring followed by rich, inky-black fruits (sloes) in late summer. Grows to 3.5m (unclipped).

25 × wild cherry (Prunus avium): Smothered in long-lasting, double white blossom in mid-spring with the new leaves, the wild cherry makes a fabulous hedging plant. The leaves are dark green and turn rich, vibrant red in autumn and are accompanied by small reddish fruit. Grows to 12m (unclipped).

25 × crab apple (Malus sylvestris): A wonderfully floriferous hedging plant for May, the native crab apple has gorgeous, soft pink buds that burst open to reveal pretty white blooms. Grows to 12m (unclipped).

25 × dog rose (Rosa canina ): Tough, tolerant and fast growing, the sprawling stems of this native rose will form a thick impenetrable hedge in record time. The pink-flushed, white flowers have a lovely scent and appear throughout summer. As they fade, glossy red fruits (hips) form, which add interest well into autumn. Grows to 2m (unclipped).
