This impressive shade-loving perennial forms a large (75cm or 30in high) urn-shaped mound of wavy-edged grey-green leaves, each of which is framed with an irregular yellowish margin that becomes creamier over time. In mid- to late summer, tall stems rise above, bearing spikes of bell-shaped pale lavender-pink flowers. Hosta 'Regal Splendor' is wonderful in a woodland setting where it associates really well with ferns.
Hostas thrive in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter, ideally with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. While they can tolerate partial shade, dappled sunlight is optimal for maintaining vibrant, healthy foliage. To ensure optimal growth, water your hostas regularly, especially during dry periods. A thick layer of mulch applied in spring or autumn will help retain moisture, suppress weeds and enrich the soil.
