The aromatic, evergreen foliage of this showy, low maintenance shrub, is virtually smothered with the white, daisy-like flowers that appear in late spring and early summer. Plant Olearia in well-drained soil and a sunny, sheltered spot, ideally away from cold, drying winds. Water well after planting and continue to water regularly until established. Remove faded flowerheads with secateurs or garden shears to keep the plant tidy and promote new growth.
In mid to late spring, lightly trim back any uneven or straggly branches to maintain a neat shape. After pruning, apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base to help retain moisture and feed the plant.
